About us

About Salmon Bay Appliance

Salmon Bay Appliance is a Seattle appliance repair company that comes to your home, finds the fault with proper testing, and fixes what can be fixed. We would rather replace a worn part than a whole machine, and we tell you plainly when a repair is not worth it.

Salmon Bay Appliance works under a Washington appliance repair license. Every technician holds EPA 608 Universal certification, and LG and Whirlpool have authorized us to service their machines, Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir and Amana among them. We remain independent and local.

Credentials

Our license and credentials

Our technicians work in kitchens and laundry rooms across the city every day, from century-old Ballard bungalows to new mid-rises on Capitol Hill. Each visit follows the same order: readings first, a written price second, the repair third.

We are an LG and Whirlpool authorized service company, which covers Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir and Amana too, so covered repairs on those makes are handled by us. We remain an independent, local company and repair the other common makes as well.

The name

Named for a working bay

Salmon Bay sits at the west end of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, with Ballard on its north shore and Magnolia to the south. Until 1917 it rose and fell with the tide. When the locks opened, the bay was lifted to the level of Lake Union and became fresh water, and it has been a home port for fishing boats ever since.

Salmon still come through every summer and fall, climbing from the Sound toward the lakes and creeks where they spawn. A bay that keeps old boats in service and still sees the salmon return seemed like the right name for a company that keeps appliances running.

How we work

Four habits on every visit

Readings before parts

We meter the circuit before naming a part, so you do not pay for guesses.

One written price

The repair price, part and work together, is on paper before anything is replaced.

Repairs where the machine stands

Sealed-system work included. Nothing is hauled across town to a shop.

Plain answers

If an appliance is not worth fixing, we say so on the first visit and stop there.
